Abstract
For the purpose of studying the influence of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning on the activities of the enzymes in the important organs (liver, brain, kidney, & heart) of rabbits, poisoned repeatedly with 5 volume percent of CO in the air for 2 minutes in a gas chamber daily for 30 days.
1. The activity of Choline esterase of the liver was increased considerably but the decrease was observed
in the kidney and heart.
2. The activity of glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase was decreased generally in the liver, brain, kidney and heart.
3, The activity of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase showed marked increase in the brain and slight increase in the liver, kidney and heart.
4. The catalase activity in the liver and kidney showed slight decrease.
5. The activity of cysteine desulfhydrase of the heart was increased considerably.
6. The activity of succinic dehydrogenase of the liver was increased considerably, but no change in brain, kidney and heart.
